Growing community: Partnerships with churches, schools and local organisations
People tell us Hope Cirencester feels like “family”, “a lifeline”, “a place where I can breathe again”. Our impact is measured not only in numbers, but in changed lives, restored confidence and renewed hope.
When I first walked through the doors of Hope Cirencester five years ago, I was so nervous and thought the art group was a bit weird. So much has changed in my life since then. I moved into a new home with my husband of thirteen years, but this group has stayed so important to me. I missed everyone so much over the summer break that I was counting down the days until we restarted. Bernie did come to visit us over the holidays.
For a long time, another member kept encouraging me to join the literacy group. I kept holding back because I was worried my disability would mean I couldn't learn. But eventually I went along . Ever since I was a little girl, all I’ve ever wanted was to just sit down and read a book. With the support of everyone, I’ve now read my very first book! It might take me a bit longer to read completely on my own, but I’ve proved to myself that my disability isn't going to stop me."
Thank you so much."
